Who we are
Specialty Coffee Near Me is run by Greenlight Systems LLC, a Hawaii company. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the company that runs the site.
Email us at joe@specialtycoffeenearme.com. It's the address for everything on this page, from a correction to a copyright complaint.
What this site is, and isn't
Specialty Coffee Near Me is an independent guide to specialty coffee shops. We decide which shops to list, using the criteria on our How we choose page.
We aren't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any shop we list. A listing doesn't mean the shop endorses us, and we don't speak for any shop. We use a shop's name only to identify it, and we don't use shop logos.
The site doesn't sell anything, take orders or make bookings, and it doesn't publish ratings or reviews. Visitors and shops can't post anything here, and there are no accounts.
Accuracy and changes
The facts in each listing come from the shop's own public information, as it stood when we checked. Shops change their menus, prices, hours and addresses, and some close, so any listing can fall out of date. Before you make a special trip, check with the shop.
When we call a shop "verified," we mean we checked it against our specialty criteria using the shop's own public information. It never means we visited the shop or tasted its coffee.
If you spot a mistake, use the form on our List your shop page or email joe@specialtycoffeenearme.com, with the shop's name, the page it's on and what has changed. Anyone can report one. We'll look into it and fix what we can confirm.
Claim, correct or remove a listing
If you run a shop we list, you can ask us to correct its listing, add something we missed, or take it down. Use the form on our List your shop page or email joe@specialtycoffeenearme.com, ideally with an address that matches your shop's website (for example, you@yourshop.com). Suggesting a new shop, including your own, works the same way, and it's free.
Claiming a listing just means telling us you run the shop. There are no accounts or owner logins, and nothing to sign or accept. A request doesn't create an agreement between your business and us.
Before we change or take down anything, we may confirm the request comes from the shop, for example by replying to an email address on its website or calling the phone number it publishes. Please send only information that's accurate and that you're free to share. We don't publish what you send word for word: we check it, then update the listing in our own words.
- Wrong facts: we correct what we can confirm.
- Personal information: we list business details only. If a listing shows something personal, such as an owner's personal phone number or home address, we remove it.
- Taking a listing down: you can ask. We may keep a listing that holds only public facts about a business, such as its name, address, public phone number and website.
We can't promise how quickly we'll reply.
Links to other sites
Listings link to a shop's own website and Instagram page where it has them, and to Google Maps for directions and reviews. Our map's streets come from OpenStreetMap, and so do search results for places outside our directory. We don't control any of these sites or services. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them, not ours, and we aren't paid for any of these links.
We plan to add affiliate links, for example to coffee gear. An affiliate link earns us a commission if you buy something after clicking it. Each one will be marked "(paid link)" right beside it, and any page that has one will say so at the top.
How we make money
Today, the site makes no money. There are no ads, no paid listings and nothing for sale. No one can pay us to list a shop, leave one out or move one up a list.
When we add affiliate links, we'll earn a commission on some purchases made through them. That money will never decide which shops we list, where they appear, or which products we pick. You'll see the "(paid link)" label beside each one, not only on this page. For how we choose shops and put lists together, see How we rank.
Using what's on the site
Facts belong to no one, so we don't claim the facts in a listing, such as a shop's address or phone number. A shop's name and any trademarks belong to the shop. The street map comes from OpenStreetMap, under its own license.
Our price tiers ($, $$) and tags are our own judgment, based on public information. They aren't the shop's claims, and they aren't promises.
You're welcome to use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes and to share links to any page. Please don't copy or republish the directory, or its listings, in bulk (see Acceptable use).
Acceptable use
Please don't:

Disclaimers
The site is provided "as is" and "as available," to the extent the law allows. We don't promise that any listing is complete, accurate or current, or that the site will always be available or free of errors.
We don't guarantee anything about a shop, its coffee or its service. What happens at a shop, including anything you buy there, is between you and the shop.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the site or these terms is limited to US$100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater. Today, the site charges nothing.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Governing law and courts
Hawaii law governs these terms, without regard to Hawaii's conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Honolulu, Hawaii.
If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any protection that the law where you live gives you, including any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts.
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. And if you have a problem with the site, please email us first so we can try to fix it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. Changes apply from that date forward, not to anything that happened before it. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply to you.
